Maybe I've read it all wrong but it seems to be that if you're signing for credits it doesn't count towards time counted to be eligible for a C.E. scheme?
    Can this be correct?

Researching for someone whose JSA has just run out after 6 months and isn't eligible for JSB. They had previously been on a scheme and had hoped to get onto another one.

UnleS's I'm very mistaken you must be in receipt of an allowance in your own name to be eligible for a ce scheme.

Seems a strange thing. The person in question wasn't entitled to any type of allowance once his stamps ran out as his wife is working. He was just told to sign once a year for credits. They are 15 Euro over the threshold. He is an older gentleman and wouldn't have any formal qualifications. But he had assumed that he could go back on a scheme after one year off his previous one.

God, he'll be so disappointed. Surely there's a large number of people who are blocked from applying for schemes because of this. He would seem to me to be the very type of person who would benefit from them.

I was having a quick look at the jobs.ie site for schemes in his area and there were loads he would have been applying for.

My mum is in the same boat. Not eligible for a ce scheme and when she was doing a course through fas was only getting travel allowance (that could have changed since ) it's not fair nut not much you can do

I know he has applied for a course, I think it's local so he wouldn't get travel expenses. He's just desperate to have something to do and I know financially things are very difficult for them, as they are for so many.

It just feels like he'll be thrown on the scrapheap. Stuff like this makes me so angry. He was so happy to be on the scheme.

    Thanks for your replies.
