Trying to get uncles tractor going which has been sitting for 12 months without been started, it was starting and going fine before, well we changed the oil and diesel and think we bled it correctly as got diesel coming at injector pump nut and the 3 injectors, tiny filter in injector pump is clean too but still the tractor will churn and churn but wont give that kick to fire up and its a new battery too. Funny thing here as well is we used a little easy start and flame but neither has any effect at all.

You have cracked an engine liner with that easy start, that stuff should be banned. Being a Ford liners are gone porous with idleness also maybe.

only used a tiny mist of it, has not been used on tractor before

Tiny bit will crack a liner/head have witnessed it. Try towing it and popping the clutch.

In general a little easy start will not damage an engine, it can do, but in general it won't. There are lots of theories and stories about easy start, but if used carefully it will not cause immediate damage to an engine. Use it like a fool who doesn't understand how its supposed to work, and yes you can damage an engine by using too much, especially a diesel.

Just because it may or may not have damaged one engine, it is not a cert that it will do it to every engine. its been on the market for a lot of years. I remember in the 70s the big Canadian built MF 1135s had a factory fitted ether injector system to get them to start!

Anyway, I would instead use a gas blow lamp on a diesel as heat is better than volatility when trying to coax a lazy diesel into life. You could even try spraying a little WD40 into the air intake to see if it will fire on that, even fire a little. That would then indicate you have fuel issue. If it wont fire at all, or even create some smoke, then you may have a compression issue, maybe a stuck valve?

If you have a good squirt of diesel coming from the injector pipe though, that would normally be enough for it to run.

tractor has no reaction at all to flame or easy start, it will not give that kick to start up at all

stuck piston rings? compression test your next step I'd say

Did you tighten the injector pipes again?

Has it a kill/dead man switch

Well its looking like you might have a mechanical problem after all

Try turning it and spraying WD40 into the air intake to see if you get any smoke from the exhaust, this would indicate that at least combustion of some sort is trying to happen.

Or tow it to get it to turn a bit faster and see what happens then

failing that you need to investigate mechanicals. If it were me I would pop off the rocker cover and turn the engine to ensure all valves are actually opening and closing as they should. Simple check that only takes a few mins on a ford as there is no tank in your way

took rocker cover off and two of the valves, no 3 and 6 are about 1/4 inch below the other four

Are they being pushed by the rockers??
    Or stuck open

    Try turning engine by hand

values all seems to be workin fine

If all the valves are opening and closing then they should be ok to allow it to start. Valve clearances get tighter as the engine wears, but even if they were a little tight it would still fire up.

At this stage you probably need advice of someone with experience. Its very difficult to give advice here without actually being beside the tractor. I would re check all your work regarding the diesel supply and injection system, its very often the route of problems such as yours.

A prayer to St. Jude might help also!

if you do pull start it, make sure that you push it backward in gear for a rear wheel turn or two .after it being sitting.

I would put my money on the valve on the back of the pump , it's possible that after you fitted the new filter you could have put back the valve wrong

I got a similar problem with a ford 4600, got diesel coming from injector pump to all 3 ok but no smoke coming and got 6 gallons of good diesel in her

    Did you get going?
If you have diesel coming in spurts at the injectors themselves, whilst spinning the engine, but no smoke, then your injectors are fecked.
Could be dirty diesel, or rain down the exhaust (although this would hardly get all 3 of them).

I would pull the injectors and get them tested.
