testing grass for nitrogen before I cut silage

    rather than sending the sample to the lab, some one told me there is a way to test it yourself, anyone know anything about this

    As said there litmus sticks i get them at my local meal mill just use garlic press to press the juice outta the grass onto the end of stick if it turns purple its still high in nitrogen

    Try ringing your local Teagasc office.

    If you're a client, they will do it for free.

    If not there may be a small charge.

    Collect the grass, freeze it overnight and call in with it after making sure there is someone there to do it.
