Isnt it true that some people want to see things simply along gender lines

I think lately there's been a stronger division between the genders in developed countries. There has been huge progress towards equal rights between the sexes and a lack of division of education, working conditions quality of life. Yet despite this I get the impression that some groups would prefer to see everything as one gender against another. In other words they want to see the world as being women VS men or vice versa. One gender oppressing the other.

In the developed world I don't think the most important variable is gender. You can't attribute all successes and failures to one's gender.

From men's rights groups to feminists I think both sides are guilty of this to some degree.

An example would be a student activist at a UK uni I frequent telling quite advantaged middle class women that they are oppressed. In other words desperate to make gender an issue and tell privileged people that their gender is the most important variable in their lives.

Safe space at Glastonbury, the man scientist victimised because of his fashion sense and the Tim Hunt witch hunt. It's impossible to ignore now that there's a significant proportion of the loudest social media wafflers that are looking for a divide between the genders when there is none.

All this stuff always reminds me of Trainspotting:

"Diane was right. The world is changing. Music is changing. Drugs are changing. Even men and women are changing. One thousand years from now, there will be no guys and no girls, just ****. Sounds great to me."

Another gender thread. Well, it's been nine hours or so since the last one, so I suppose it was about due.
