Flying to Hong Kong next year. Which airline should I use if flying from Dublin and which is the best route?

KLM and Emirates (so via Amsterdam or Dubai) often have well priced flights

We went air France via Paris but some people aren't keen on transiting through CDG

Air France is great via Paris - took this flight myself!

I got a good price on flights with British Airways. Heathrow is a pain in the ar$e but it's a nice new Airbus 380 on that route.

I can recommend Heathrow as well

I recently flew Cork to Amsterdam on Aer Lingus and Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong. Cathay are a pretty decent airline.

Don't go via Paris....hassle, time, queuing, etc. Worst transit airport I have ever used. Klm through schipol all the way!

Any airline more comfortable than others. I would be flying cattle class. Thanks for your replies so far.

Do they have those no reclining seats?

Done British airways through Heathrow many moons ago. No complaints, just a long ass flight. Hk is the job though. Enjoy

Cathay seats recline into their own space and not back at the person behind you. Genius!

I have read a few reviews about Cathay Pacific. I understand that if you are a tall person their seats can be back crippling?

They would be as they limit leg room if you recline. As a small person who hates being reclined at I actually wish all planes had these.

I flew on the Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300ER, they have reclining seats and also 3-3-3 abreast seating unlike many other airlines with 3-4-3 ten abreast seating which I feel is cramped on the 777. Although I think Cathay are moving towards 10 a-breast shortly.

Finnair through Helsinki is another option. Nice new A350 on the long leg and a great airport to transit.

AMS to HKG on KLM often used the 747 Combi, Its a half cargo/half passenger plane from the 80s.... So should be avoided!

I got 2 adults with Swiss via zurich for 600 Euro! Fantastic trip. Saw it flagged on secret flying.com

Had 6 hours to explore zurich and luggage was checked through. Would really recommend it.

Flew Lufthansa from DUB to HK through Frankfurt. Frankfurt is a much better airport than Heathrow plus Lufthansa use the A380's to HK and Singapore.

If you can get seats on the small economy section at the back of the upper deck it's so worth it. More leg room and it's 2-4-2 with only 5 rows. Very quiet aircraft and comfortable. Another plus is you are on and off the plane quicker than the lower deck as you share the business and first class cabins, hence less seats.
