.....there is a structural issue with a house I've already signed a contract for.

I have signed contracts on a new build house, on which I'm due to move in at the end of July. When I went to see the kitchen yesterday I noticed there is a hairline crack after forming on the wall between the hall and utility door. Its starts around the height of the top of the door frame and travels up through the coving and into the ceiling. So this has me worried!

We have Chartered Surveyor lined up to do a structural survey and snag in the coming week or two. What happens if he finds something majorly wrong with the house?

If worse case scenario we dont go ahead with purchase, what happens? Assume we lose the 10% deposit we have paid?

Point it out to the surveyor.

We don't evening know if the walls are block or plasterboard.

Put it out of your mind until you speak to the surveyor.

Only person who can advise on the contract is your solicitor

But are you not 'jumping the gun' here?
