Ford Fiesta Steel 1.25 06 - my first car?

Hi I need some advice. I am a female learner driver who desperately needs to get a car ASAP. I have seen a Ford Fiesta Steel for 4000 euro (which is within my budget and with a decent dealer in Sandyford from my research so far)

Would this be a suitable car for a first time driver? It is a 1.25 and has just over 125,000 km on it.

    Thanks

My sister has a similar 2008 model for the last 5 years or so. Hasn't given her any trouble despite only getting the bare minimum servicing in that time. 4k sounds a bit expensive for a 10 year old example though and cars of this age being sold by dealers tend to have minimum warranty on them so don't end up spending over the top for the dealer peace of mind when the warranty probably won't be comprehensive.

Basically don't rule out buying private as a good few of these cars only get used as a second car for the school run or trip to the shops. Just make sure a mechanic checks the car out before you buy and there is evidence of regular servicing.

I think they're a great car. Some people give out about the tyres on them as some Steel models have very big wheels as standard.

I have had the 2005 model for a year or so. Also is my first car. Great car! Would recommend. Have had no trouble at all with it.

4K seems very excessive though. I paid €2600 for mine from a garage last year and it was/is spotless.

A trip to WexFORD might get you this for €3,000, asking €3,250 but I'm sure he'd do a deal. 190,000km though.

2007 in Louth with 200,000km on the clock for €3,000.

I know the guy selling the one in Wexford. Used to work in Mazda and went out on his own.

My father bought a 141 Mazda 6 off him last year and it's perfect.

He is a really good guy and won't lead you astray.

Thank you all for the advice. Unfortunately Dublin is my only option (wouldn't have anyone who would be willing to drive me to look at cars outside of Dublin) so I am sticking with Dublin for convenience. I know 4,000 is a lot but 2006 cars of that model seem to be selling for that price too in Dublin. If I went private id get it for 3500 but too afraid to buy private as I am someone who knows nothing about cars and would most likely be scammed :P. I am bringing it to a garage tomorrow when I test drive it so fingers crossed it all goes well :)

Best of luck! It's a great choice for a first car, love mine. Remember you can haggle. Offer 3500! Mine was on sale for 3K and I got it down.

First car, so first insurance policy? Might be trickyish getting a quote on a ten year old car from many companies. You're better off coming down 2-3 years if possible. If only one or two companies will quote you, they kinda have you over a barrel.

Isn't 15 years the magic age where cars become unsafe?

I got the car in the end. Got it for 3800 so he took 200 off. My next goal is getting those N plates... will I ever pass? Ha thanks for all the advice
