Are these snails edible?

    We have a lot of snails in our little garden. I'm not bothered with them but my wife seems to be a lot more, so I thought perhaps instead of trying to battle them, maybe I could harvest them and turn into a tasty little dish? Last time I had snails was around 25 years ago while I lived in Brussels. The only thing that is stopping me is my lack of knowledge. I'm not sure what exact type of snails we have, they all have shells and some are pretty big, very lively too. Would my garden snails be edible ?
