Detergent Enema Can Cure Autism?

If this all sounds a little cultish, that's because it is. MMS was "discovered" by a man named Jim Humble, a former Scientologist who started his own church, called Genesis II, of which he is now the self-styled Archbishop. The church appears to be little more than a marketing organ for his alleged miracle cure, though it's worth noting that the site doesn't sell the actual wonder product it extolls, but offers a host of supplementary materials like a $199 "MMS Home Video Course" and information on expensive MMS seminars.

An Irish internet radio station named People's Internet Radio and based out of Balbriggan is promoting this 'cure' for autism.

Your username would be an apt description for this supposed "cure: :pac:

They sound like the same crew that can "cure" gayness.

If the autism fairy landed on my doorstep I'd politely tell her where to shove her wand :) I love my kids quirks. Autism is a huge part of who he is and he's bleedin' deadly.

Get it in the form of those little tablet things. The corners are rounded.

Yeah, washing your hole out with soap is gonna "cure" anything other than a few dangleberries

I wish people would stop listening to crackpot nonsense like this.

    Some people should receive beatings.

2 of my kids have ASD, all of the parents that I talk to know this is BS, I know someone that once his child was diagnosed, he looked into to everything for a cure, some quite extreme stuff.
The sad reality is that some parents will be so desperate that they will go into it blindly with a high probability of really hurting their kids.

Not only is this peddling a fake cure to people who may be desperate to try anything, it also has huge potential to cause serious harm. Criminal.

The only thing I've found that was effective in reducing the curse of Asperger's, for me, was marrying a man who was high-functioning autistic. Boy, that made me feel socially functional in a hurry. :) I love my husband and he is a good, caring fellow, but, Jesus, he is work sometimes.

I can imagine what he'd say if I mentioned this to him. "No wonder you're on the spectrum. I never see you lift a box of detergent." Har har har :)

There was a Prime Time investigative report on RTE a few years ago about this - an industrial bleach basically. The sad thing was all these good people, who were clearly in a difficult place and willing to believe anything that convinced them their children would be helped, were being suckered in. I cannot post links but I see it on YouTube now: "RTE Prime Time on MMS".

I dunno why but I saw the heading and came in here thinking '****, that's it. Trump is finished...'

At any rate, I'm unconvinced feeding detergent into your colon can "cure" something that developed during your time in the womb - for whatever reason. Or anything else for that matter, but detergent?

They can stick it up their arse, tbh :o

    This isn't even medieval ignorance.

2,500 years ago the essence of the Hippocratic Oath was "first do no harm" if you can't prove the treatment is effective then it's completely unethical.

IHMO anyone making money out of stuff like this where actual bodily harm is caused should be done for assault. In our society it should be made very , very clear that causing harm to others for profit means the full weight of the law will fall upon you, including tax audits and background checks.
