I was coming into the M50 today and at the roundabout beside the castle I saw a large bird of prey owl/ eagle take off with a rat between its talons, are these magnificent creatures rare in Dublin? More than likely it's living somewhere in the cherrywood SDZ. Before they develop the site will they relocate the birds of prey ?

Most likely a buzzard...a tree nesting bird, would be fairly common in Dublin county..not familiar with that site but as with all development sites there is barely a squeak from anyone when large wildlife habitats are levelled for ever..
