Garden Side Gates Recommendations

Looking for recommendations for premade side gates for my house.

We're on a budget, hence the premade, but we'd like reasonable quality.

We've looked at a variety of websites, but the issue is knowing what the quality is like.

If anybody has a recommendation, I don't mind driving a distance, although I'm based in Kildare.

Thanks. I'm aware of 'buy cheap buy twice'. However, it does not change the fact that I am working within a budget, and as such must buy the best that budget will allow.

Do you have any suggestions for manufacturers of pre made gates that would be of a reasonable quality?

Most gates, even the cheap ones, are made to order. The main difference is the quality of the materials.

As said they're all made to order as no two side entrances are the same size.
    Material type is the key

I have come across a number of companies offering 'standardised' sizes, such as the link below.

These gates come in substantially cheaper than made to order, presumably because they can be made in bulk.

If you have a decent maintenance protocol most wooden gates will last for years providing they're and the supports are not in direct contact with the ground or frequent puddles. Give people an idea of the width you're looking for. Do you want something that totally blocks the passageway with boards t&g or would a few inches of a gap be acceptable? Are you keeping in pets or kids, or keeping out busybodies and burglars?

The opening at the side of the house will aloow for s gate roughly 900mm plus a 4x3 on each side to act as a 'frame'. Any small gap left wil becovered by battoning, which would also double to prevent movement of the gate past 'closed'

The gate will be used to keep kids and dog in, nosey people out etc. Just your common or garden side gate on an estate house

Then don't overthink it. Give it all a good coat of paint - the frame before screwing i into place and the rest after. I like Cuprinol's Garden Shades. Put it up, keep it clean and repaint it every year or two. Our gate is 20+ years old and going grand. It won't keep out a determined burglar with a crowbar but will keep kids/dogs in.
