Dublin Airport New Runway

In the FAQ on Dublin Airports website in the section about the new runway it refers to something called Option 7b as the configuration that they're going to be following.

This was not in the original planning application. Does anyone know where to find the details of what this is with the corresponding noise pollution maps?

Included in original PP available in link below

    www.pleanala.ie/news/R217429.doc

"While originally seeking to operate the runway system in mixed mode, the applicant by way of further information, put forward a further option – 7B. In this scenario when winds are westerly Runway 28L will be preferred for arriving aircraft. Either Runway 28L or 28R will be used for departing aircraft as determined by Air Traffic Control (ATC). When winds are easterly, either Runway 10L or 10R as determined by ATC will be preferred for arriving aircraft. Runway 10R will be preferred for departing aircraft. (see Figures 16.1 and 16.2 of EIS Addendum). "

Thanks for that. Can you or anyone point to the EIS addendum where I can see figures 16.1 and 16.2?

If you're wondering which runway is which:

    Heading west:
    28L - Southern (existing) runway
    28R - Northern (proposed) runway

    Heading east:
    10L - Northern (proposed) runway
    10R - Southern (existing) runway

You seem very new to this. Do ypu mind me asking what the purpose of your questions are?

I'd imagine it's someone who lives under the flight path of the new runway.

Perfectly reasonable question to be honest.

Not at all. I'm just trying to understand the impact of the new runway. Do you know where the EIS Appendum is located?

You've lost me there. That seems to indicate that they're building 2 new runways?

1 new runway, that you can approach from two directions

Ah! I see! It has a different name depending on which direction you approach it from. That clears that much up at least. I'd really like to see the EIS Addendum that's referred to though.

The EIS Addendum is in the appendix to the full planning permission, Section 16 page 37.

Maybe I'm asking for the wrong thing? In the document linked in the 2nd post (R217429) the following text is found within it.....

"Runway 10R will be preferred for departing aircraft. (see Figures 16.1 and 16.2 of EIS Addendum)"

It's this EIS Addendum that I'm trying to find. Do you know where it is?

Can anyone point me to the document referred to as the EIS Addendum that contains the figures 16.1 and 16.2?

What exactly do you want to know?

That statement above means that when the aircraft are taking off towards the east the current main runway will be the preferred runway for take-offs.

Do you really need any more information than that?

I'd just like to read the document if I could find it.

I'm not sure repeating the same question several times is going to get you an answer?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 276 ✭✭mayway

Presumably someone must know where it is?

But there's no point in just repeating yourself - there was an answer given earlier in the thread.

Eh? At no point has anyone pointed to where the doc actually is.

All I want is to be able to read this EIS Addendum but I can't find it. :-(

Its covered within the planning permission, under the point numbers you keep referencing, link has been posted twice! Still curious as to what specific answer you are after?

Post 2 original planning permission knock yourself out! Really would love to know what exactly you are after. Because you are going to be really bored when you see it unless procedural/legal issues and EIS and planning legal issues are your kind of thing.

What does that mean? I don't know where to find figures 16.1 and 16.2

The document that is linked here refers to the EIS Addendum. It says "see Figures 16.1 and 16.2 of EIS Addendum". Where is the EIS Addendum? Does anyone actually know?

16.1 and 16.2 withing the PP doc are the addendum all contained in the one doc.

I've looked at the doc www.pleanala.ie/news/R217429.doc and I cannot find either figure 16.1 or 16.2 ? What am I doing wrong?

I've had my head buried in planning applications lately, so have had to figure out how the PP websites work.

    Try this one: http://planning.fingalcoco.ie/swiftlg/apas/run/WPHAPPDETAIL.DisplayUrl?theApnID=F04A/1755

    then the documents tab

then on the resulting page or 2 should be a link to the EIS

Middle of this, perhaps? Difficult enough to find as the addendum to the EIS isn't actually labelled as part of the EIS...
