Battery life, after death..

I recently replaced 3 batteries and just wondering is there any value in the old ones? I heard something about refilling with some acid before and it brings them back to life? They aren't completely gone, still hold somewhat of a charge. I don't like to dispose of things if they have a chance for secondary usage in general and if I can make a few quid, why not, otherwise I'll just leave them in to wherever will recycle them.

    Any feedback appreciated :)

Depends, are they sealed lead batteries or have the screw tops to add more distilled water?

Btw, anywhere that sells car batteries will recycle them in free of charge, and you don't need to purchase anything either.

Bring em to a scrap metal recycling centre - they'll give you a decent few bob for them.

Recently took a load of burglar alarm batteries and a few car batteries in and left with plenty of petrol vouchers.

Scrappers are the way to go, you should get at least €15 a battery, likely more.

Thanks a lot, rang 2 scrap metal places today and neither bought batteries, they suggested National Recycling in Clondalkin but any more recommendations would be appreciated too :)

Just for anyone else, National Recycling in Clondalkin (http://dublin.yalwa.ie/ID_103143424/National-Recycling.html) offer €350 a ton. On a 20kg van battery, that's only about €7, or about €3.50 for a 10kg car battery.

Another guy from a metal recycling place said he thought the going rate was about €500/600 a ton, but it could be futile trying to ring around finding somewhere to offer that much.

As for reviving batteries, I tried this stuff:
    http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/car-battery-chargers/granville-bat-aid-tablets-x-12

Topped up the water, popped in the pills aaaaand nothing. Battery still knackered.
In fairness, they seem to get a good review on Amazon.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't need them anymore and don't have the space to keep them, so I guess I'll have to do with me €15/20 for the 3 I have :o Better than nothing I guess!
