Have a bullock bought a few weeks back.
Is eyes have been running a bit since he arrived and a little worse over last few days. Thing is his eyes are nice and clear and bright and he is thriving mighty.
Should I tube the eyes or leave well and good alone?

Could be worth a phone call to the vet , is he in long grass or anything like that ? I wouldn't rush in with the tubes yet if his eyes are good

Squirt some penstrep onto the eyes with a syringe.

Worked for us a few years ago with a Heifer that had a watery eye.

Ya for the last 2 weeks has been on ground with a good share of tall grass and rushes. I'll watch him for another few days. Main thing is the eyes themselves are crystal clear and healthy

Keep an eye on him for pink eye. Feckin flies are about now.

Watery eyes can also be a virus. Usually when outside this heals itself after a few weeks. However as it is persisting I think I treat as if pink eye. Blue Allymicin spray is very good and fast you should only have to treat him once. If it fails to rectify I call to the vet and tell him the symptoms and he may prescribe without a visit. If you have not treated for pink eye he may prescribe for this first. However I suspect that it may be a virus that he has.

Shifting the cattle this evening at dusk and one lad has the eye half closed and it's streaming. Looks like there is a bit of a scum on the eye itself. Looks like pink eye.
Won't be able to do anything with him until I get something from the vet tomorrow and get back from work. Will another 20 hours be serious. Annoyed I missed him yesterday. Was up and down the passage way beside them all day yesterday looking in at them but did go in amongst them.
Should say it's not the lad this thread was about originally.

Judging by your description I reckon it is pink eye and at this stage another day will not make a difference.
The eye appears to have a cloudy opaque film which can be easily seen against the black of the pupil.

An injection with an eye tube might be better in this case than a tube on its own but you may go with your vets advice. Assuming its Pink Eye, bear in mind its contagious so if only one is affected then isolating him could be considered. Also worth checking for foreign bodies or damage to the eye once you have a chance.

The only positive comment that I have regarding the very wet weather Summer that we have had in Longford is the fact that there are feck all flies about.
Not one case of pink eye so far this year :)

Allymicin blue spray is the business with pink eye. If only a tear it will clear it after being sprayed once. Where there is weeping of the eye you need to spray 48 hours later. Only once had I to treat an animal more than that
