First reveal trailer is out for Fifa 17

Can only see it on console, but there's going to be a new engine, Frostbite, hopefully that will be a good thing

Nothing else of note in the trailer, full reveal is June 12th

Edit: They posted it on youtube

Is that Jose doing the voice over? Does that mean managers are in the game now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,799 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

    Sure sounds like him

Hopefully they don't go announcing it as a new feature, it's a bit meh in terms of additions to the game

It's going to look absolutely gorgeous on that Frostbite engine.

It is him talking and there was a very quick clip of a manager on a touchline

It's a much better addition to the game than some of the gimmicks they've put in during recent years.

    Managers?

All they can do is stand there really, they don't affect gameplay and barely improve the presentation, it's something I even thought was in the game

Much like women's teams, or pre season tournaments in career, you'll notice it first time and after that it'll blend in as being a standard feature

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,709 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

Yes managers. Should have been added years ago. It's all part of making the presentation better. It shouldn't be a key feature obviously but it's one I know plenty have wanted to see for years. Especially when they had them in the world cup game in 2010

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,484 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

They had some managers in the 2010 Fifa World Cup game, cut scenes of them celebrating and such

    ******

It was always easier with the World Cup games because they could be sure those managers would remain with their countries for the duration of the tournament, the main reason club managers were never implemented was rumoured to be licensing issues. Looks like they've found a way around it, it's a feature I've been dying to see in FIFA.

As long as they can properly capture Jurgen Klopp gurning his face off when Liverpool score in the game, I'll be happy.

They could at least add in a create a manager option for Career Mode.
Would also love some more customisation, like being able to create your own kits, stadiums etc.

Couple of stills here from the trailer
    http://news.futhead.com/posts/fifa-17/34071-fifa-17-teaser-frame-by-frame

Shows the inside of Stamford Bridge and inside United's dressing room, so will probably get more detailed cutscenes before and after games.

Here's 2 in game stills of Martial and James

The fact that martial is one of the 4 fut players you can loan shows he will be highly rated in this fifa. When do we start speculating ratings? :)

He's around 80 at the minute so I can't imagine he'll be rated above 83 unless he has an incredible Euros. The ratings are updated weekly though so it doesn't matter too much about how they're rated on release day.

Looking like he'll be a cover star as well, along side Hazard, James & Reus

I'll be going for either 82/83, delighted that he'll have a real face this year too.

more like Fifa never changes...at least we'll have a new name for scripting called levolution..the handicapping in FUT16 has been the worst I've ever seen in a fifa game.

Coming up at €79.99 for me with the ea access discount also comes with a code for 1months ea access so not too bad with the price for deluxe digital games theses days

Delighted to be getting a new game engine as the ignite one was muck.
And I see legends is still exclusive to xbox this year.

    Where did ya see that?

    Where did ya see that?

The deal EA Sports have with Microsoft runs until the next release of the game (end of 2017 afaik) so PS4 might see Legends for Fifa 18.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,799 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

    Balls to that anyway

Was really hoping this would be the year

Futhead and a twitter user I am French had it up on up on their pages

Hopefully.but I wouldn't be athe all surprised if playstation still didn't get it. It's like the ea access thing. Didn't playstation say they didn't want it

Feckin Xbone, for Fifa they have it so much better with Legends and the early access

Just hope all the focus isn't on FUT again this year, I know it's where they make their money but some people just aren't interested in it at all, and career mode is badly suffering, they do next to nothing to improve it each year. Better gameplay is the main thing obviously but a good career mode is just as important to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,639 ✭✭✭deafroadrunner

As much as I play ultimate team I would also love if they improved the pro clubs aspect a bit. Last year I pumped a lot of hours into it, same with this year but not as much.

FUT is where they really make their money..suckers like myself think nothing of forking over 100-200 a year for packs.
Unfortunately there's no real competition..PES 16 still sucked.

PES MyClub or just PES in general? Because PES is actually better gameplay wise I would say, FIFA does all the extra stuff better though. PES most definitely doesn't suck anyway.

I'd be interested in how different FIFA is this year based on the FrostBite engine because the gameplay had gone to muck these last few years. A shake up could really get me back interested but if it's the same gameplay as FIFA 16 and just looks better, then I'm not interested.

I'd prefer there to be less pointless cutscenes that we have to constantly skip rather than more. The managers in the WC game were really annoying.

I'm not going to lie, last year before that big update came in, I gave coin-buying a try and the value you got from that was astoundingly better, made FUT somewhat enjoyable for me for a time but I still got tired of it because at its core, I still don't like the idea of it. Of course that's gone now (which is obviously for the better in terms of fairness) but it was nice to be able to take money out of their pockets for a time.

I did too for a while...why blow €200 on packs and get sodall when you could buy about 10-20million in coins.
Of course EA put a stop to that...and still gave out crap in packs..its been estimated that you had odds of 1 in 5 million of getting Messia/Ronaldo.

    I'm a 1 in 5 million guy then :D

Packs do seem crapper in general in FUT 16 though, more gold players in this one that in others so much less odds

Videos like the first few minutes of this would scare me off going near packs

it is even a legit video? His fifa coins never dropped and his normal coins never increased plus his record is 1000-0-0.

just a screen placement, lots of youtubers block that to lessen the chance of being hacked

as well as being able to use other people's pack openings and claim them as their own

Apparently there's a story mode, where you control Alex Hunter and make your way through his career.

    Who is Alex hunter

Your right anyways. Just saw the full trailer for it. On the phone so can't link it properly. Don't know what to make it tbh

    Story Mode coming to 17

"Powered by Frostbite, The Journey is a new mode in FIFA 17. Make your mark on and off the pitch as the Premier League's next rising star, Alex Hunter. Play at any Premier League club, for authentic managers, and alongside some of the best players on the planet. Start your Journey"

Was hoping for a story mode based on your own created player, but it does look interesting. About time FIFA got something like this.

Also shows Jose Mourinho in game on the sideline, don't know if this is just for the story or if managers will be in all games modes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Well it's something new at least. Was worried for a minute it'd be restricted to just Man United based on that trailer but thankfully you can pick any PL club, might be fun to do it with a small team like Bournemouth.

Also includes interactive press conferences, hopefully they'll bring them into Career Mode.

I think that new mode looks brilliant. Something different to what we've seen before. Depends on how long it is and how in depth it is though

    Gimmicks. :(

Was thinking the same myself, if it's only Prem teams I doubt you'll be able to transfer to other teams. And I doubt it'll be a 15 season long mode like Career as well.
Either way I'm delighted with this mode, hopefully EA continue it and improve on it every year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Meh, limited to one league and one nationality. Not much interest in that, to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

So I'd have to play as a Manchester United player? Unless I can run around crippling my own team, I've less than zero interest in that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,799 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

It's a fun little addition I think, something new

Hopefully your career can go a few different ways, and the whole story with you isn't a set one, and you might get a few different plays of it

    No, any PL team.

I'd love it if they implemented some of the features from The Journey into Career Mode like the press conferences and cinematics but it's EA so..

Wouldn't think so, regular career mode will probably see even less updates than usual with the putting a lot of resources into the journey

I'd say even FUT will see minimal updates, their team will have spent a lot of time on something like this that they can't continuously monetize like FUT so other areas will be neglected
