Son in US with his Irish mobile phone... Cheapest way to stay in touch??

    He over a few days and says that his texts to us (on his 086) mobile is costing him a €1 a text?? Can that be right??

    Any suggestions foe us to keep in touch. He has an IPhone 4. ... Does FaceTime cost outside of free wifi areas??

    facebook messenger and whats app are good for keeping in touch but could be quiet expensive if not used over wifi, fb messenger also has a call function not sure about whats app though.

    Skype, viber, emails etc on free WiFi.

    No, anything that connects to the Internet is only free over WiFi. Data outside of WiFi is horrendously expensive

    No, hence I said on free WiFi. There are many WiFi spots in the US for free.
