Cannot make re-test deadline for NCT. What to do?

Dear All! My car was due for re-test ( deadline today at 10pm) because of loose steering wheel. Due to elays, wrong parts being ordered, dealing with few mechanics car is still not fixed. It should be done within 10 days. I called NCT and explained. They did not want to give extension. Fair enough. I can't arrange another…

Dear All!
My car was due for re-test ( deadline today at 10pm) because of loose steering wheel. Due to elays, wrong parts being ordered, dealing with few mechanics car is still not fixed. It should be done within 10 days.
I called NCT and explained. They did not want to give extension. Fair enough.
I can't arrange another booking- probably have to wait until tomorrow.

I desperately need a car- 2 sick kids and loads of appointments during the week.
Would going to the gards help if I explained my situation? I'm lost here!
Should I still go today knowing that I will fail?

Any advice would be greately appreciated

No point going today, just wait until it's fixed and retest. Get a print out of the full retest date and carry it in the car with you, this "should" assist if stopped by a Garda.
