Hey, just wondering if someone could clear this up for me.

I already have a masters but I am considering doing the Hibernia Masters in Education.

Will this make me ineligible for back to education part-time education option even if I am still looking for work?

If so, what options if any would be open to me?

a course that requires months of teaching practice and gaeltacht trips would be hard to justify as part-time. It's currently classed as a two year full time course at the nui's

Only postgraduate courses in Ireland are eligible for the BTEA scheme. You can get BTEA for a postgraduate course of study that leads to a Higher Diploma (H.Dip.) qualification in any discipline or a Professional Masters in Education.

Other types of postgraduate qualifications are not recognised for BTEA. The only exception to this is where a college has admitted a person without a third-level qualification to a Master’s course on the basis of relevant life experience.

You will not get BTEA if you already have a postgraduate qualification.

Hibernia is an online course and usually qualifies under PTEO. While the claimant is engaged in teaching practice they will not receive a payment for this time period.

It would be secondary I'm doing and I'm hoping this is true. Thanks.

You won't get BTEA because you already have a masters.

The PTEO is different though. http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Part-Time-Education-Option.aspx

Exactly PTEO is different to BTEA. With PTEO you can have a PHd and still qualify for PTEO.
