Any tips on painting outdoors in this spell of very hot weather. Was using masonry paint on wall capping today out in the sun, and it wasn't possible to avoid the sun. The capping was hot to touch. Will be painting double gates tomorrow with gloss paint - any tips?

If you could set up a garden patio parasol to give you some shade while using the gloss it would help a great deal as the paint will be very difficult to work with on hot metal! Before putting a fresh brush into paint at all give it a good soak in white spirits and remove the excess- helps to prevent paint from drying out in the stock/ ferrule. With heat and evaporation no harm to add a tiny drop of white spirits to the paint as your using it, from time to time.
