    Hello,

I was looking at mirrors for our bathrooms, the guy in the shop said that instead of buying mirrors with lights built in I could mount led lights behind the mirrors they supply, it would work out much cheaper ?

Has anyone done this ? how did it work out ?

What 'IP' rating do the LED's you are considering have?

Currently about to mount an LED clock behind a mirror. I'll let you know how it goes.

The main concern right now for me to how to have the lights show through the mirror. Did the guy in the shop mention that?
The simple solution is to remove the backing in the areas needed. But that sort of results in rear mounted flush lights rather than lights that "appear" in the mirror.

I haven't bought the leds light yet, but they will have to meet the necessary IP rating for the bathroom. The guy in the mirror shop said he would sand blast the necessary pattern for letting the light out.

How is that going to look when the lights are off?

it wouldn't be totally transparent so it should be fine, i saw this example of it being done http://imgur.com/a/zOMEw

It's a has a bit of a frosted effect, from the sand blasting, so it obscures the lamps. But it's not reflective either.
I'm trying to get the appearance of an invisible light/clock appearing and disappearing on the mirror itself
