Manual driving lessons

    Hello All,

I am currently residing in Dublin for a few years and I would like to learn a few new skills while I'm here, like how to properly drive a manual car. Yeah sure I could always learn from a friend, but to be honest, I'd rather learn from a professional so I can use what I learn in the future. I do travel a lot overall around the world, so I think it would be good to know how to drive a manual. Is there a place that can provide reliable, affordable, and well taught lessons in Dublin? I don't have my own car here, but if they can provide the car, that would be splendid! Let me know of any suggestions, and if there is a way that I can sign up online, that would be amazing.

    Thanks!

Do you have an Irish driving license? Or at least a license that is valid to be used in Ireland? If you do then you should be able to just ring any driving instructor and book a lesson or two.

I had a US license when I moved here. If you intend to stay more than 12 months, you will need an Irish license (even if your US license is valid for more than 12 months). It would be a good strategy to wait to get your lessons until you have passed your theory test and obtained your provisional license. Then your lessons will count toward the requirement for getting your full license.

You cannot possibly be more inept than I was at learning a "stick shift", so don't worry. :)
