Can a main dealer check if a car is clocked or not?

    Usually no
Often they just buy it or get a trade-in and then pass it on as-is.

Depends on the car and the year, i know that it is possible with BMW from around 2000 onwards

    It's a 2010 Skoda Superb.

Why not run a data check yourself and also verify it's service history independently?

If car is 2010, then it should have 2 nct's and mileage normally noted on the Cert attached to Nct disk.
Also local skoda garage should be able to access any warranty history on car where both mileage and dates will be noted.
Might be few boardie's here with the info u need

    All the best

Service History - The car is only 6 years old, so the first part of its life would likely be warranty covered so dealers stamps should be apparent. Likewise, its probably only had 2 to 3 owners, so look at the mileage in-between the services and project it to the current day, does it make sense? Are there multiple stamps or marks in the same ink? Are there large gaps in the history? Take the NCT mileages, and once again project the mileage to where it 'should' be.

Averages - Is the car above or below the average for the make and model, or the year?

Condition - Look at the seat bolsters, wheel and area around the pedals. Are they worn excessively so?

Compare - Look at a car with similar or less mileage, do the cars stack up cosmetically?
