Thinking of changing

    Hello all,
I need some petrol head help.

Thinking of changing my 04 Volvo s80 2.0 petrol for "something else".
I'm not pushed but i'd like to move up or sideways at the least. Move up in years and upgrade to the tune of €6k to €10k at the most.
I'm not even sure that I want to change as my car needs a belt change and it needs some money invested. I'm just having a nosy.

I was looking at 08 Volvo S80's, but they seem to have dumbed down the cars to the tune of 4 pot flexy fuel piss cans with cira ~ 160 bhp, where mine is 180 bhp.
Mine is a thirsty bugger but I love it and I will gladly sacrifice the mpg as I don't do the mileage to justify a diesel.
I want a petrol because there is more value in the purchase price and I cannot justify the usual diesel expenses.
I don't want a lesser powered car. That, to me, is a backward step.
So, I require a car with more than 180 bhp that won't break the bank. Petrol is the obvious solution. I am a family man so I need doors and a boot.
Looking at the Merc E class is just too expensive - and boring. I really want another volvo but need some guidance and opinions on the newer Volvos, if there are any.
I really don't to spent big money on a car that isn't as powerful as my last car. I could sacrifice power for economy but were talking diesel again and I don't really want a diesel, as I don't do the miles.
I would just love to hear some opinions - good bad or indifferent.
I'm not buying soon - just having a look and seeking some advice, thats all.

My father was one of those people that owned nothing but Volvos for years, and I'm not quite sure what happened but now he has a Lexus and loves it, but misses having a Volvo, I've never had one but it must be some kind of a bug! I do like the way they drive though, there is something effortless about them. Despite having a company car he will always have his own car that he will drive on the weekends

Is it worth waiting out for the right one to come up, or going to the UK for one? Would you consider the estate version of it? they're hugely practical.

I wouldn't rule out a 5 pot diesel s60 unless your mileage or driving would make it risky.
Even one with less bhp than your petrol will have more torque.

only One listed on DD - petrol. (less than 10,000) I hadn't considered the diesel.
