Hi, I'm planning a trip to Sorrento in early August, can anyone tell me how hot it actually is in August? I've found travel websites to be inaccurate in the past, and I really don't cope well when the temperature goes much over 30 degrees!

Scorchio!! We do Italy always and always in August. The heat is savage but it beats the hell out of 15 degrees and rain here...

We went there in May 5 years ago and it was hot, so I hate to see how hot August would be

Average August afternoon temps seem to be around 31 degrees, according to this. Hottest day is August 6th

If you don't do well in the heat, I wouldn't be going anywhere near Southern Italy in August. If all you are going to do is lay out by the pool all day, it'd be fine. But doing outdoor touristy stuff, or seeing the historical places like Pompeii or Vesuvius, in that hot, dry, dusty climate would be tough going. I did it in early May & found it quite hard.

if you don't cope with hot temperatures I suggest you to change destination, I was there in July and after lunch we wanted to go out to visit the city and people from Naple told us we were mad to go out at that time of the day. We went out anyway, the streets were completely empty and we were roasting, we had to go inside a restaurant and wait a few hours till the temperature was acceptable. We like hot weather, but you can't even walk outside when it is so hot.
