Hi just wondering has anyone ever got a doggy DOE on commercial vehicle? Hubbie purchased a vehicle late last year and it had just passed test previous day, he took it to a Test last week and it failed miserably, the whole chassis is rusting away and it will cost up on 2 k to fix it, I've been told by a mechanic and welder specialising in this area that this could not of deteriorated in such a short space of time any therefore I'm wondering was test done last year doggy?? any advice??

The rust being a visual to a tester could have been conviently overlooked as he was too busy putting away the €50 that was left for him.

    That's what I'm thinking...
    Thanks

This has always plagued the doe, I've seen a few cases where a vehicle was passed through on minor stuff with a little "interaction" with the tester. More major stuff I've only heard of rather than seen myself.

My jeep failed miserably on a badly rusted chassis this year . Its tested in the same place every year and the only reason I can think that they didn't spot it previously is my jeep would be filthy underneath usually and they didn't scrape the dirt to see it until I had it powerwashed this turn to replace the wiring for the back lights

I did the testing for 4 years and corruption is rife.
I would regularly be informed that such and such wasn't a fail, that they could go to "X Garage" and get a cert there with that wrong.

Off with ya so was my response.

IMO, you should have to ring a centralised booking centre and be allocated a testing station in your area at random.
This would take the competition out of if and cut back on the shít of picking and choosing based on who gives the handy test
