Trying to decide between a trip to Budapest or Tallinn?

    Hi folks,
I'm looking to take a little holiday in July and have narrowed down my choices to these two cities. I'm wondering which would be more recommended?
I'm thinking Budapest is a must-visit but would it be boiling hot (which I don't want) in July? On the other hand, Tallinn would probably be cooler but is it worth a 4 day visit as it seems a small place?
Thanks guys, any advice would be appreciated:)

I can't advise you on the weather but, having visited both about five or six years ago I found Tallinn much more expensive than Budapest.

Tallinn is very small so four days seems a long time but you could go on a trip in the surrounding area. There is a lot to see in Budapest but I was there in August once and it was over 30 degrees and very hot but there are nice parks and outdoor pools/ spas

I was in Hungary recently, almost everywhere (even small souvenir shops) accepts Euros at the rate of €1 = 300 HUF which is reasonably close to interbank so don't bother bringing much local currency. Just be careful at the ticket booth at certain tourist attractions, ask the price in Euros if it's not displayed but if it only shows a local (HUF) price, pay in the local currency. I'd budget for spending no more than €20 per day in HUF, your credit card and euro cash will get you by otherwise.

HUF stands for Hungarian Forint but on a price list the number will be prefixed by a lower case 'f' .e.g. 'Americano coffee f 450'

I liked Tallinn a lot. Plus it's a short boat trip to Helsinki (about 90 minutes) so you can visit two capital cities for the price of one.

Think about renting an apartment - we found that very reasonable. We rented one of these - http://www.ites.ee/studio-and-1-bedroom-apartments

Restaurants inside the Old Town are expensive, but we liked Hell Hunt (brewpub) and Olde Hansa for a bit of Bunratty Castle-style kitsch!
