Anyone else seen anything about this? Apparently it's been running for a number of years, the challenge tracks short cycle journeys throughout the month of May across European cities from data recorded/uploaded by users. I only found it by stumbling across an article in the Irish times. The data is tracked either by using an app to record journeys, or you can upload .gpx files from your Garmin (not sure what other formats are supported).

I also stumbled across this after reading the Irish Times article that was linked in a thread here.

Anyway, I signed up and uploaded all my .gpx files for May from Strava (max 6 per day). For the challenge it only counts spins of less than 35km with an average speed of less than 30km/h and max less than 45km/h. I think spins need to be within the Dublin/Limerick county boundary too. All spins are included in the statistics page.

I downloaded the iPhone app too - it's rubbish.

It's a pity that this wasn't promoted - I think Dublin could have faired a lot better than the (still decent) 13th place it's in at the moment.

It is a shame, as I think the same article was saying there are approx. 11,000 people cycling in to Dublin every day, there's only a little over 1,000 active users on the site.

It's good that it allows retrospective upload & manual entry of trip though, meant I could load in my trips for the month! I won't be using the app, doesn't see very good at all.
