Are you a morning or night person?

I got asked this today and I found it very hard to answer.

Once nighttime comes about I'm just too tired and I need to go to bed.

I'm not a morning person either because I hate getting up in the morning and find it hard to rise.

Maybe you're not a person at all then?

Have you taken a Voight Kampff test lately?

    Definitely evening/night person.

    There are pills for that

100% a morning person. I'm awake early no matter what time I get to bed.
It's also when I have the best sex so I'm definitely a morning person!!

I'm very much a night owl.

It should be perfectly legal to punch people who are chirpy before 11am.

    Both. Which is weird.

I can stay awake all night, but can get up out of the leaba early too a lot.

I must be mad or something.

Generally a night person though have to admit.

    What time is it?
Guess I'm a morning person so.

    Yes.

    Can't deal with early mornings.

Generally I don't need to be up before 8. Work commitments will mean that from Monday I'll need to be out of the house at 6am for 3 weeks. The thought of it is filling me with dread.

    Total evening/night person.

Getting up for work at 9am is a struggle no matter how much I've slept (thank feck I never have to see ungodly hours of before 8:30 am, I couldn't handle it).

On the other hand if I was absolutely shattered and half falling asleep in the afternoon come 8pm I wake up and I could easily stay up into the early hours with no difficulty.

Neither. I'm grumpy as **** in the mornings but I get up, have a nice shower, and start my day without having any murderous thoughts.
By the time night rolls around I'm beyond exausted and worn down but I can't unwind so it's late before I can sleep and I rarely sleep a full night. I'm constantly tired and run down. I'd prob be a morning person if I was more of a day person and less frustrated at night

Get to sleep around 2am. Wake up 7am (kids).

I'm more of a tired person these days.

Naturally a night person but less likely to kill someone in the mornings these days.

introverted night owl. hate chatter, tv and radio on in the mornings. just want to get up, washed, dressed, eat and out the door in silence.

Night person he typed at 01:20 in the morning...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,409 ✭✭✭✭endacl

I dunno. The middle of the night here as I type this. But it's lunchtime in Oz. Maybe it's really just a matter of geography...

I'm a night person. Early Mornings are for suffering through. I don't want to talk to or see anyone. A load of sugar is what helps. And silence.

Whereas the night is all mine :) There are no people, no things to do or obligations to fulfil. I can be very introverted so when I'm in that place nighttime makes me feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere. I like that.

    I don't think I'm either one.

It depends on my work routine, freelance I end up working late into the night and getting up later. When I'm in full time employment I feel like I'm most productive in the mornings.

I second that last point. I'm more productive in the AM. I'm just bolloxed come the PM. I think the lunch break takes something out of you, 30mins is fine. An hour is too much

Can I be a potato person? Potatoes don't have to deal with all this rubbish.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,973 ✭✭✭RayM

A night person, definitely. I suddenly become very productive at around 1am and the very idea of sleep is a real inconvenience. I don't mind mornings though, as long as nobody speaks to me, looks at me or comes anywhere near me.

Defo a morning person, look it's almost 2am.

I'm definitely more of a morning person. I love being up and around before everyone else is, I find it very peaceful and my energy levels are at their highest. I'm more productive with my day at the start, then tend to burn out by evening.

If I could have my own way I'd be at farmers markets first light, but my OH isn't quite the early starter I am. He likes them too, but he'd happily sleep the morning away. I'm fully of beans while he's dozy and unwilling to give up the bed for an early morning adventure. I honestly don't know how he hasn't buried me under the patio yet :pac:

Nothing as worse, you get up nice and early, have a lovely breakfast to start the day and you meet someone coming down into the kitchen horsing around 'I'm late, I'm late, I'm LATE'. They should be stabbed, no one else's fault they're late.

Its for the same reason I find people driving dangerously close to the back of my car, constantly edging out to see if they can get past me. I didn't make you get up late

I think I am both a morning and night person.

It is generally the middle of the day that messes me up. I might have to take up the tradition of the afternoon siesta. Somewhere around the 1200 to 1600 area I drop to about 50% efficiency.

That's completely typical (in my old workplace, the one where I actually had to go in to the office, we called it the "two-thirties" and scheduled a break for light physical activity if possible).

I would ordinarily consider myself a morning person, but my nightly sleep routine is the old-fashioned two-parter, roughly 22:30 to 02:30, then 4:00 to 7:30. I never slept all through the night, even as a child (I'd always have to get up to pee and have a drink of water, and would sit in bed reading until I got tired again).

    Get up earlier!! :D

Honestly, if you got up an hour or more extra before you leave the house, you would be fully awake, have non rushed breakfast and you will be able to leave in a timely manner and ready to attack the day. I know so many people that roll out of bed, coffee in hand getting in the car. No wonder you guys look like you hate the world in the morning :p

    Night owl here.

I struggle to concentrate at all before 12pm. I'm much more awake and tuned in the later it gets. If I didn't have to get up in the mornings, I'd easily stay up til 4 or 5 every day and not get up til 11 or so.

Morning person for sure. I love getting up early even on the weekends, stroll down to the shop, grab the paper and have a good old read while sipping a coffee. Bliss, and total silence cause everyone else is still in bed. Now if I'm hanging it's another story, don't come near me till after 3 in the afternoon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,992 ✭✭✭DavyD_83

Have never functioned properly in the mornings, and don't thing I ever will. In terms of work and productivity, 12-8 would suit me way better than 9-5 apart from the fact it'd clash with every other part of life.
I'll get out of bed, do what I have to and get to work, but I won't like it and you can't make me.
And breakfast radio and their chirpy sh1te can feck right off.

    Definitely a morning person.

I'm one of those people that most of you would like to die a slow and painful death. I bounce into work in the mornings. Bounce. And am overly chirpy.

Of a weekend I would have the dog walked, maybe a run, a wash done, possibly got the shopping in, may have baked or cooked something by 10am.

By late evening during the week I just want everyone to be quiet. Ssssshhhhhhh. I don't watch much telly and try not to have too much noise. CAN EVERYONE PLEASE STOP TALKING.

Weekend evenings are grand. You can talk to me then :)

Generally a mid afternoon person. Hate mornings, especially now my kids wake before 6am. Am shattered by 9pm.
Am awake and functioning from 12-3pm.

Off to bed now. I am a real morning person. I start work at 9 and it is a 10 minute commute but get up at 5:15 every day. Love these bright mornings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,150 ✭✭✭✭Malari

Definitely a morning person. I'm wide awake 10 seconds after I wake up. And I'm horrified at the thought of having dinner as late as 8pm. Unless I'm on hols :-)

It's a rare occasion that I don't go to bed on the same day I woke up!

I wish I could learn to be a morning person but no matter how early I go to bed I still struggle getting up. I shower and wash and dry my hair at night, iron my clothes and leave them out, have my milk and cereal in work- I have dragging out every last morning minute in bed down to a fine art

I'm a total morning person. I'm up hours before I have to go to work, take my time getting out for a run, then have a nice relaxed hour or so getting showered and dressed and caught up with news. I hate being rushed in the morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,112 ✭✭✭StripedBoxers

I'm a night person, definitely. Hate the mornings, not a morning person at all.

I'm definitely a night person. I like the peace and quiet that there is in the morning but I often to tired or sleepy to properly enjoy it.
