New car, shortage of popular colours. Any experiences?

Ordered a new car recently. Delivery time was initially estimated at about 8 weeks, but now I've been told that there isn't enough of the colours I want being delivered to the country. If I want it in the most popular colours then it wouldn't be here until late September or after. Anybody experience this before?

I'm going to guess it's a far east brand?

Common enough - they order way in advance what they think will sell, so if the car is more popular than expected, the popular colours go first leaving you the choice to wait, take a colour you aren't that interested in, or go to a European brand and factory order your preferred colour.

Shop around different dealers too, certain dealers may have the colour you want on allocation but are unwilling to swap with another dealer for a less popular colour.
