Hi, how much detail do Irish employers usually go into when an interviewer from another company rings asking about your employment history? Do they just confirm dates and salary or would they badmouth you/say you were fired etc?

It all depends on the person ringing to be honest and what they ask. Some only ask the basics.
Some ask about timekeeping, absence, warnings etc.

I would have a rule of being truthful, it's ok to tell the truth warts and all providing it's the truth and it can be backed up with evidence should there be a complaint. I would expect the same in return.

I always ask about tardiness and attendance. What's the point in ringing if your not going to ask the important questions.
