Wiper blade clip / connector

I recently had the windscreen replaced on my 03 Audi A4 and the person doing it pointed out that my passenger side wiper blade was not connected to the arm - the downward pressure of the arm was holding it in place, but when you lift the arm it falls out. I took it to Advance Pitstop, and they told me the clip to hold it in place had to come from a main dealer.

I had it in an Audi garage last week, and they told me a clip wouldn't do it, it needed a new wiper arm at €308. However I can see the clips on Ebay for loose change, and theyre exactly whats wrong with mine - one side of the clip has had the part which grips the blade snapped off.

Does anyone have experience with this - are the dealers being heavy handed, or is it genuinely a bigger problem?

Also, if I had to replace the arm, would parts for a German car work on the opposite sides? (That's probably a stupid question, sorry...) I can see them on ebay for change of €50 for the pair.

    Thanks
