2008 Renault Megane - window regulator fix

    Hi All,

I'm viewing a car on behalf of a friend and the known issue of the Window Regulator (Drivers side) has shown up. Its a 5 door variant. It would appear the switch doesn't always trigger correctly e.g. Window won't go down when pushed, won't come back up without some co-axing etc. Action is smooth so the motor appears fine.

Has anyone ever fixed this this themselves? It would appear the root cause is perishing cabling, throwing the motor and overall system out of sync. I'm fairly handy with cars but I want to be sure I've diagnosed correctly e.g. Its not just the switch in the drivers door itself.

    Thanks!

If the motor is good you can probably just pull door card off and check cabling and mechanisms.
Do try to shave some money off of the car for this issue.

Thanks Biko. Its priced in already. Just trying to get a handle on how complicated it is.

Does anyone know what actually causes it? I presume its the tension in the cables giving a bad / false reading and causes bad operation?

I don't know if you saw this page http://www.renaultwindow.co.uk/renault-megane-window.html
Seems to be a fairly cheap DIY fix
