    Hello,
I noticed the odd scraping noise from the rear of my Honda CRV earlier and checked the brake pads. The rear drivers side pad is almost worn down.

I've ordered a replacement set from Micks Garage with delivery due tomorrow.

My question is will I get away with the 10 mile drive to work tomorrow without doing damage to my discs?

I can't really take the day off.I plan to replace both sets of pads tomorrow evening after work.
    Thanks

Once there's full coverage on the pad it will be fine, it's not going to wear last few mm on a 10 mile drive. If spots of the pad have nothing left on them I wouldn't risk it as metal on metal will result in scouring of the discs.

If scrapping noise is there, it means that pads are gone already, and it's already metal to metal.
By using the brakes when driving, you'll cause more damage to the disc.

It might be OK to drive 10 miles, provided you won't need to use brakes on the way :D

No it don't Cinio, it may well be the wear indicator.

    Hmm.
    You learn something everyday.
I never heard about acoustic brake pad wear indicators, but after googling, indeed looks like such thing exist.

Was it used on CRV though?

The vast majority of Hondas used rear pads with wear indicators so chances are they'll have them.

Wear indicators aren't uncommon and may have come with replacement pads so could be it.
Or even a small rock. You need to get pads off to know for sure, but if pads are as worn as you say then may as well change them.
