Irish Accountants in Canada

    Hi All,

Hoping to get advice on the above.

I recently became a qualified accountant with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Ireland. I am hoping to move to Canada around March\April of next year.

I worked in practice for 3 and half years but I wanted to move to industry in Canada.

Are there opportunities for Irish accountants in Canada. I know CGA is big over there but from briefly looking at accounting jobs online it doesn't seem to be a deal breaker. I would consider becoming a member of CGA. I was in contact with the CGA institute via email and they mentioned that even though there is MRA with CPA Ireland I may still have to sit a few exams to become a full member of CGA and also the process seems costly and complicated.

Has any other Irish accountants made transition to Canada before?

I would be grateful for any bit of advice.

    Thanks,

    Ted
