    Hi all

Im looking at purchasing a 2010 a4, just wondering what youre thoughts are on prices regarding private sales and dealerships

I just missed out on a 2010 technic model, with only 70,000 miles, the agreed price was 11,000 but someone got there before me:eek:

Now im looking to get over this setback, and purchase one asap, but some darn dealers are charging 14,000 for the same technic model i nearly bought and with way more miles.

Any advice for a guy who isnt really willing to spend over 11,500?

    Regards

Thats what im afraid of, are there a lot of them coming in from uk clocked?
    Thatd be a disaster

They're in high demand, of course there are lots coming from the uk as there are lots over there. It's natural that you'll get the clocked or repaired stuff appearing here as well as there. It's not only uk cars that can be dodgy.
Point is, you can't have it all. You can't get the high spec, low mileage, no funny past car that all the lads want for a bargain price. The cheapest examples are often cheap for a reason.
That's not to say they're all in shiite or anything, just don't be mourning the one that got away too much.
Obviously the ones from main dealers will be more expensive. But you're paying for the warranty and peace of mind, as well as the cost to prep the car for sale.

Yea its hard not to mourn when u miss out on one with low miles and good spec for a low price, will be impossible to get one like that at that price from a dealers

At the same time, you could have dodged a bullet. What was the reason that that particular car was cheap?

I struggle to see why anyone would sell a clean A4 2010 with low mileage for 11k there is a good deal and then there is too cheap. So to me that would mean it's most likely hiding something with used cars the cheapest doesn't mean the best.

It did have a dent at the rear just beside the audi sign, it was reversed into something, probably 300 or so to fix, and also needed 4 new tyres, but i missed out on it anyway and you never know, maybe i dodged a bullet:)

I just notice one now not too far from me in a dealers, a 2008 model with sat nav, 147,000 miles, would that be a bit risky to buy at that mileage? Its going for 10,900 so maybe i could deal them down to 10 or so. Wonder would it give me much bother with the mileage?

    Cheers

Noticed a lot of little rust spots on front bonnet of the 2010 car, found it strange for a car that was young enough, i have a 04 honda hardly a mark on it. Ill be looking at the car tomoro must check bodywork, seems to have a fsh

That's why Yanks put them ugly looking bras on their cars, I'd rather take the hit on resale than drive around with one of them on a car.

Very like a real bra, in that there's usually a tit directly behind them.

That's too cheap for a 2010 A4 with such low mileage. It must have a 'shady' history at that price.

Most of the cheap ones are bog standard and not sline which gives you a horrible dull and boring car, I'd prefer an Avensis any day.

    Do you still have both?

Still have the Audi which is 151 but Avensis is gone but still going strong. I was asked 20K to change up to a 161 Sline on Friday...

    "They really hold their money"

.....Is what an Audi sales person told me, whilst showing me a 152 A3 saloon that was €1300 less than an identical new one.

Believe it or not..it had a full audi service history only 73,000 miles, as i said it needed 4 tyres and had a dent at the rear just below audi sign and rear bumper was off line a bit.
I did a 35e history check online prior to buying, it came back clear, but someone just bought it before me.

Doubt ill find another 2010 black technik for that price any time soon :(

History checks in my opinion are a waste of money.

Don't always rely 100% on a history check. I've paid for one on a UK Passat that came back clear but when I phoned VW UK they confirmed the true mileage was a lot higher.

When buying any car look at the service book take a few pictures of it and phone the main dealers to confirm the history of the car.

I'd always do a UK HPI check as opposed to Irish one.....

Yea the car was registetered in ireland 2012 so no big uk history, and 4 or 5 audi service history dates from portadown since new. Hard to find a 2010 technik model that reasonable.

Just wondering...is it possible to install sat nav in a 2010 a4 that doesnt come with sat nav? Someone mentioned something about sd card, but im not sure.

It is but a big job that will cost a lot, I have it in mine with Google maps but I use my phone normally.

Would you not consider a VW CC they are much nicer than those bog standard Audis..

Way more common to find a CC with Sat Nav too.
