You can if your sure its poisonous weed free and dog **** free and as you couldn't be sure of either then no. And calves would be liable to bloat on it.

It also heats up quickly as it has been battered, goes mouldy.
It would have to be fresh each day.

    No no no no. ..

Have a neighbour here who keeps phuqing his cuttings in over the hedge ànd keep piling up on our side until they got so high they covered the electric fence. I have always asked him not to and explained the risk to the cows...
Anyway gave a spin around the farm the day we were going away on holidays to see the electric fence earthing in grass cuttings...lost the plot..git the loader and loaded everything possible around and near the clipping on over the fence to his manacured garden....

His wife didn't speak to me for months, until she needed something and had to give in...

I've been giving it to the cows for years with no problem. Thing is, I don't cut the lawn until it's nearly too strong for the lawnmower..it's not a golf green wtih clippings.
The leaf is a strong as grass and isn't going compact in the cows stomach. Also there is so little between them all they don't get much, but they do love it!
When they hear the lawnmower and tractor they come running. When the hear the tractor on it's own they ignore me.

As long as it's clean and just mowed I couldn't see a problem. We've done it here lots and never a problem.
    Pigs love it too.

Not lowering the deck on the lawnmower this year and like you say clippings are coarser. And lawn still looks well mind you ;)
