Bought a 2011 focus from main dealer, only got one key, second key in post ! Never arrived seems they couldn't get it from previous owner so said they would cut another like for like now they say the second key for that year wasn't remote !! I'm very surprised about that anyone have any thoughts ?

    Much appreciated

That's the case on a lot of cars. Don't know about that particular one, but it wouldn't be unheard of.

Definitely the mk2 focus had a second (spare) non remote central locking key so only the main key had central locking. I have a feeling the high spec ones might of had two with remote central locking. Not sure about the mk2.5 and mk3 focus but it may well be the same. Once you only intend on having it as a spare then a standard key will be fine once you have a spare that's the main thing.

Didn't the high spec ones usually have keyless start?

thanks for that, we drop and collect cars from different locations due to kids and having a grumpy child in each arm and trying to unlock a car door isn't good !
I'm just surprises that a car that has very high spec for a the class (sensor wipers, sensor lights, factory sat nav etc) wouldn't have a second remote key !! Ford scrimping perhaps because I know all the Nissan I have had since 2000 have had them

    but thanks for reply

p.s father has a 09 style 2 remote keys ! Strange, just checked with him

I know when I had a 07 focus I had to get a spare key and in autokey in Dublin quoted 60 euro for non remote key and around 150 for the remote central locking key. Some of the newer ones may well have come with two remote keys but I know the 07 era ones didn't unless they had keyless entry. You could just ask the garage can you pay the difference on getting a second remote key instead of the one they are giving.

Maybe you could pay the dealer the difference between a remote and standard key, assuming that it didn't come with it of course.

The Mk3 Focus comes as standard with 2 remote keys fobs while the Mk2.5 comes with only 1 remote key fob and 1 manual key on the entry to mid range models, which the Sport is.

Very unusual that your fathers Style model has 2 remote key fobs, they definitely didn't come as standard.

Father's one years ago was one flip key and one conventional, both remote. That was a 2006/2007 way Ghia.

The 2nd remote key is an optional extra.... You can get a new remote key from Ford for €160ish.

Put your Reg number or VIN into the fordetis website and it should tell you if that car came with 2 remote keys originally.
Our 2009 Fiesta titanium came with 2 flip remote keys and said so on the etis site.

Mk3 Titanium and above specs yeah. Mk2.5 was an option even with the top specs.

Thanks for this post it was a great help, and yes my gut feeling was right that model did come with a second remote key so I will be back onto the main dealer in the morn.
Just shows don't believe everything a secondhand car salesman tells you !!!

    Thanks Again
