Unusual cause for delay

I was flying Murcia Spain to Dublin last night, EI579; the flight was delayed for about an hour or so due to late incoming aircraft... once on board, the pilot explained that they had been on final approach, then put on hold due to..
wild dogs on the runway :-)
Three or four planes had to hold until the local dog catcher did his thing.
Thought it was an unusual reason, fair enough!

Im sure visitors to Dublin consider "wild hares on the runway" to be unusual" too!! (Not that it happens too often.)

Or if you're on a Turkish Airlines flight they're small Kangaroos coming into DUB.

Reminds me of this: there used to be a trainee in the tower at DUB who had good English, but couldn't find the word for hare. So one day, working the runway, he told the landing EI crew that there had been a 'small deer' strike on the runway. You could hear the surprise in their response..

Scatsta is famous for its reasons to not accept flights. Dead sheep on the runway with no vet to take it away, seaweed on the runway, passenger stairs lost in the snow, man with keys for the de-icing truck slept in.
