Look for advice on Travel lodge

Hi I'm new to all this, but I'm looking for some advice. We are planning a short family break to England and we are on a budget. We are looking to book into travel lodge for two nights for two adults and 3 children but they say we need to book two rooms for that many people. My question is how strict are they? If we just put down that it was just two adults and two children would they notice an extra child when we got there? There is no point in us getting two rooms because the kids would just end up staying with us anyway.

No way to tell as it would depend on who you get at the front desk. They might not give a damn, they might not notice or they might be an eagle-eyed stickler for the rules and you are slightly snookered.

Get one person to check in and the others can join the room a few minutes later :)

Have you just used their website or have you spoken to someone on the phone? Sometimes their booking system online is set a certain way but talking to someone in reservations they can have a bit more common sense, especially if, for example, one of your kids is still in a travel cot or you'd fit two or three of them on a pull out sofa.

I rang them after I tried their website. The girl I spoke to just said I needed to book two rooms and that they would have an adjoining door. Really don't want to be paying for two rooms that won't be used. I might try ringing again tomorrow I might get someone else, as you said with a bit of sense.

They'll really only tell you the rules over the phone. You should be fine. I'm fairly certain I snuck a 3rd adult into a family room before (sadly no funny business) in a Travelodge.

    Hi Mum 24,

I hear your pain, we are in the same boat (2+3) and generally, we keep looking until we find a room for 5, which are few enough. However, we also use the http://www.yha.org.uk/ and if you are lucky there will be one where you are going. Many have family rooms, play areas and are a long way from sweaty dorms and the like.

The risk with Travel lodge is that they will have rules around fire regulations and they will stick to them. We may not like it, but they are in place for a good reason. My experience of the chain hotels and the UK is that they love their rules and they stick to them.

    Best of luck.
