When you pass, what do you need to give the ndls.
Can you drive on their letter/receipt?

    faq is a tad outdated

All you need to do is bring your D401 application form, cert of competency, your old permit, your fee and any other documentation pertinent to your application such as change of address or ID documentation (eg change of surname, adding a middle name etc).

They'll give you a receipt to show a Guard, however, officially, everyone needs a licence to drive. It's down to the discretion of the Guard as to whether to take action against a driver not carrying a licence. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it - there are thousands of people waiting on renewals, lost, misplaced and momentarily left in their other jackets. This is my personal opinion but also, IME, I've never heard about someone getting boned while waiting for the NDLS to post a licence.

    super
Main thing was what i need to bring to them. I heard the ndls can be a bit stubborn if you dont have your docs

They give you back your learner permit.

Only if if hasn't expired yet. Lots of people sit on their permit and cert of competency until their permit is close to expiry.

A certificate of competency is not a license. Until you hold your new full license in your hand you are still considered a learner driver and must drive while accompanied and with L plates. Applying for the license also does not mean you are licensed. You must wait until you receive it.
