Can anyone recommend a good replacement radio for a Toyota prius 2011 Japanese import?

    what's your budget?
by good to you mean features or sound quality or looks?
a standard European radio would fit visually.
there are spurious touch screen units available that fit exactly too.
you could get an adaptor to fit a standard size radio. won't look great though.

Well the car has a reverse camera, so it would be nice to be able to use that. After that I would like to have a radio and cd player. Do you think I can get something for around €250?

The cheapest generic Chinese ones on eBay that look like a factory system come in at €285.

These would have a huge amount of features, but I couldn't say how good things like menus or sound quality are.

Thanks colm, I think i would prefer buying something here. Be nice to see it first.

You just won't realistically be able to do that. What you're looking for is specific to that model Prius.

A genuine Toyota unit new us a few grand, even used they're massive money.

    This is the eBay type

Most of the Prius you get here are either more jap imports like yours, or Irish/uk ones with the standard non touch-screen system.

I don't know much about that particular one. The last time I bought something like that was in 2007.
I don't know how good that one is, whether it's cumbersome to operate etc. there are probably a few youtube reviews of it. It appears to use Windows CE as an operating system, which might suggest it isn't amazing.

Not sure how they work with regards to how long they take to start working once you turn them on etc.

With your budget, there are always going to be compromises.
I would be hesitant about getting a Toyota touch screen system as there may also be external modules like an external amplifier and extra wiring that isn't fitted to your own car.
If you want the extra functions, a self contained system like the ebay stuff would probably be the best compromise. Again, check for reviews.

OK. Seems like it's not quite as simple as I thought it might be,, however, you are right. I will do my homework before I do anything. Thanks again for your help and advice.
