Took the BB off my bike to replace with a new one however the frames threads are worn on the non drive side so screwing a BB cup on straight isnt happening and the only way it will go on is at a stupid unusable angle. Is there any way or any where that can rethread the frame or any other ideas or solutions that any one can recommend?

Are you sure that it's the frame threads that are damaged? It depends on the frame material but usually the cups are more fragile than the frame and therefore much more likely to suffer any damage.

It can be tricky to get cups in/on straight at the best of times. I'd suggest removing the cup and checking its threads. If they are damaged you might be able to eliminate the worst of the damage with a thin file and/or a hacksaw. Has worked for me before. Then clean and grease the threads and try to re-fit it.

Once the new cup is removed you could try threading the old cup back on by hand just to see whether it still fits. If it does, and the cup threads look okay by eye. it's further evidence that the frame threads are okay.

If your bottom bracket shell threads really are damaged then the shell can be re-threaded with an appropriate tool. A decent bike shop should be able to do it, given that it's your frame that's being worked on directly here I'd look for recommendations for a bike shop as you don't want someone to make a mistake with this.

If it is a case that the frame is damaged there are BB's available made for such situations. I've never used one so can't comment on there effectiveness. Scroll down the link below, theres one towards the end of the page.

cheers for the replies. Was in the bike shop this morning and talked to the guy there who said to retry the new BB first to see and if it wouldnt go on to bring it in the have the frame rethreaded. Unfortunately its a trip back to the shop on Monday for rethreading as the new BB wont go in straight or without resistance. If that doesnt do it I,ll be trying that Velosolo site.
