Hi folks, I'm looking to convert my Fiat Scudo 6 seater to a van, and as its basically a van anyway it shouldn't be too difficult.

My query is, whats the process after the conversion, and also does anyone know of an engineer in the Cork area, to sign off that the conversion has been done.

The one that is listed by the Vrt charges over €220 just to fill in a form, which stings a bit

I believe the person you're looking for is an SQI.

Not sure about the requirements for vans nowadays, but a few years ago you didn't have to black out the windows if the car was VRT'd as a car originally.
I'd imagine you'd have to weld up the seat belt bracket holes (in my case I cut some bolts to fit and just welded over the cut bolt (just incase you might want to go back to being a car at a later date.
Maybe contact the SQI first and see what's required.
does your car have a flat floor already when you take the seats out?

Yes has a flat floor, just have to take the floor mat out. do I need to put a bulkhead in behind the seats or is that just a crew cab.
I was just going to put bolts into the seat belt holes and cut them off flush, wont be putting it back as a car. I was going to sell it and buy a van, until I seen what its worth, peanuts, that's why I'm converting it plus its been super reliable over the years never let me down

€220 sounds good. It can cost €500 here in Dublin.

Ouch, wish I could make that sort of money for less than an hours work

But more involved I though. The conversion document is over 20 pages long, weigh bridge and then sign and stamp all the documents.

You also have to have the qualification and equipment invested in.

I've only ever done crew cabs but I'd assume the process is the similar.
