LG Smart TV Help, sound but no picture

HI guys, the TV was working perfect yesterday but went to turn it on lat night and thats when the problems started...

The sound is working perfectly but the picture is very very faint on it, nearly blacked out altogether, i can switch between HDMI inputs but it still makes no difference to the picture..

The TV is 25 months old and was bought in Harvey Norman, i rang them and they said the 12 month warranty is up and as i didnt purchase an additional warranty that they could do nothing and only give me LG's helpline number, but said they would charge to fix it...

im sure a TV is made to last more than 25 months, is there not some sort of accepted life span on TV's nowadays, i mean the tv was €600...

Do i have any come back or is it a case of tough luck....

    did you hear anything back?
the picture just went on my tv last night. sound is still there. mine is an 49"LG bought from harvey norman too about 27 months ago. seems to be a common enough issue though from the bit of googling ive done

There's plenty of online advice about enforcing your rights under the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980.

Rang Harvey Norman re this issue and was told that the 1 year guarantee was up and coz i didnt take out an extended guarantee that there was nothing they could do..

Although they were so 'kind' as to give me a number of a crowd in dublin that they use for servicing tv's, so i rang them and was told there would be an €80 call out change + charge for parts needed...

Obviously i said no thanks, so last port of call was to ring LG them selves, got through to a UK department and the Lady couldn't have been more helpful...

She logged my fault with their servicing department and i was told someone would contact me with 24 hours, to collect the TV and repair it free of charge. Got that call today and the guy collected the TV and said i should have it back by end of the week, if not then early next week....His opinion was that the backlight was gone in the TV (a very common fault seemly)...

A big +1 for LG , Harvey Norman will be getting a call..

sweet. same story here. rang the dublin number for LG today. was told to expect a call back tomorrow to arrange collection.

how did they collect it? did they bubblewrap the heck out of it? dont want a mishap in transport.

Guy in a van collected it, hes the only guy in Ireland picking up and dropping off TVs for LG, pretty big area to cover for one guy if you ask me...

He has some packing materials in the van like foam and carpet but i had the original box with the proper Aeroboard packers so i sent it back in the box...

He didnt even look at the TV so you could have it wrapped up and ready for him, gives you a bit of time to wrap it up properly...
