    Hi.

I am asking this on behalf of a colleague and wondered if anyone can offer any insight.

She had her working week cut from 5 days to 3 days during the recession and this situation has remained to date for approximately four years.

Her employer is now asking her to return to 5 days but this does not suit her anymore - personal circumstances have changed and the time off is more important.

Can the employer force her to return to full time? If she is not willing to return to full time, and the employer needs a full time employee, does he have to make her redundant?

She has never been a contract of employment (been working for the company for 11 years) and the reduction to part time was never documented in writing.

    Thanks in advance.
