    Might need to up the temp if possible.Or a longer wash.
    Is there too many items being washed at once?

    Small load at 60 degrees, according to the machine it was only 70% of capacity

    Ur machine might need a good cleaning. Happened me recently each load was getting worse. Cleaned the drawers & seal and ran a bleach wash then washed a load of towels (incase bleach still there) clothes now smell great.

    What's the best way of cleaning seals, and how much bleach in bleach cycle

    I just cleaned the seal around the door with cloths & detol spray - getting right in to get the gunk out. Bleach I used the cap on the fairy non and filled it which was far too much- bubbled out- I'd say half that or less.

    If you have a smelly washing machine.

    To begin with the causes of a smelly washing machine are listed below;

    1:Consistent low temperature washes will result in a build up of bacteria inside the drum if you combine this with liquid detergent, then it is an almost perfect recipe for bacteria build up inside the drum of your washing machine. This bacteria will release a bad odour in your machine.

    2:As stated above if you use liquid detergents or liquid capsules then this is most likely the problem as there is no chlorine bleaching agents in liquid detergent and it has a tendency to smell a bit ripe after a while. It is also VERY easy and prone to over-dosing, which can lead to a congealed mass of goo in and around the drum.

    To cure the odour from your machine follow these steps to give your machine a new lease of life;

    1: We recommend to do a maintenance wash which basically is to do a boil wash coupled with a washing machine cleaner that deals with odour issues rather than limescale issues. This maintenance wash should be done ONCE a month with no clothes in the machine and it will kill the bacteria left in the machine.

    2: By leaving the door open or even ajar the odour in the machine will begin to leave as the room temperature and the natural smell of the room will cure the odour.

    3: By using powder from the box instead of liquid tablets it will help cure the odour

    This might be of use:

    They mention a product called Affresh further down the page, which they believe works.

    Oops, I have had my Whirlpool machine since....yikes 1996! They made them good in them days.

    Never had a smell or anything, and only ever did a blind wash once because my mother told me to!

    I always leave the door open for a while after the wash is done. I have always used either tablets or powder, NEVER gel, or liquid.

    Anyway, I hope you get it sorted.

    Have to get a new kitchen soon so am terrified of getting a new washing machine. Nothing will ever be the same as my old friend. But it is getting rusty in parts, so has to go in time.

    Were the towels smelly going in? If so you need a higher temp & longer wash.

    Also, dry the towels properly each time you use them and don't leave it too long between washes.
