EU flight delay compensation

    Does anyone know the Irish time limit for claiming compensation from an airline for a flight delay ?

    Although the rules apply across the EU, there are different time limits by country.

    I see it is 6 years in the UK but can't find the equivalent Irish limit.

    Any have any idea if this is worth pursuing:

    My flight was overbooked. No later flights that day so I was offered €250 for going on a later (non-direct) flight.
    I refused it, but was told I had no choice. Arrival time was 4-5 hours later than if they let me board the flight I had booked.

    Anyways, in the connection airport they didn't get my suitcase onto the transferred flight quick enough. So the suitcase was a day late, stuck in the connecting city which I wasn't supposed to even go to. I do tend to pay more for direct flights, dto avoid hassle plus I've had suitcases go missing on connecting flights before.
    I had all the hassle of despite being 4-5 hours late, then queueing up and completing the missing baggage paperwork.
    The baggage arrived the next day.

    The airline is KLM / Air France.
    Will they just say that €250 was for the 4/5 hour delay, and losing baggage is just one of those things - so I should just suck it up? Or can they do any more?

    Really though, €250 is not a lot given they can really mess up people's plans or waste their entire day

    Overbooking is then a no-brainer for airlines as long as you sell tickets for >€250

    I complained anyways.
    They gave me an extra €100 voucher for KLM / Air France (on top of €250 mandatory cash they already gave me), and apologised again for the inconvenience.
    glad I made a complaint, hopefully constructive criticism for them.
