Sky+ Boxes - new customer?

I was a SKY customer many years ago before moving to a Freesat+ box. This box died recently and I am looking at my options, one being rejoining SKY as I miss the ability to record RTE from a 7 day EPG.

    2 quick questions

    1. Is there an RF out on existing SKY+ HD boxes that allows content to be viewed on a second TV? Will this allow recordings to be viewed on second TV. Does it power a magic eye similar to the boxes 10years ago etc.

    2. At end of contract, is SKY+ HD box still functional as a free to air box?

Yes and Yes, afaik it will work as a free to air box once you cancel your subscription.

The newer Sky+ HD boxes do not have an RF out connection. You would need to get an I/O link box to give you that functionality. Then it can be connected to a magic eye in a second room to allow you to control the box, including watching recordings.

The sky box can function as a FTA box, at the end of the contract, but you may no longer be able to record or watch previously recorded programs from a subscription channel.

You would be better off with a Freesat box at that stage. Something like a Triax Triilink modulator can work magic eyes with a Freesat box.

A combo box fed from Sat dish and Aerial should cover all your needs.
