I'm thinking of getting one of these. Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of before I do. It seems to be what I want. I normally use my son's playstation for youtube and Netflix etc. The summer holidays are coming soon and he'll be taking the PS upstairs during the week and I need something to replace it. I'm also using a non HD sat box at the moment so the HD and recording ability will be an added bonus .

If anybody has one I'd appreciate advice on any pros and cons.

    Thanks in advance.

Jelly bean is very old now would ask if the box can be upgraded to the latest Andriod 5.11 or Custom Roms if not would give it a miss .

And get yourself a Wetek box new model .

I'm having a bit of a problem. Maybe someone can help.

The box arrived yesterday and I set it up on the kitchen TV as someone else was using the one in the living room. All went well and I'm very impressed with it after coming from an old Grundig 10 yr+ skybox through scart. However when \I brought it the living room TV later last night it wouldn't work at all. Every 10 seconds or so the screen goes blank and then starts flickering. It comes back on fine and then starts flickering after 10 or 15 seconds. It looks like a dodgy connection but I've tried three different HDMI leads in three HDMI sockets. A playstation will work fine on all three cables and sockets.

The TV is a Phillips bought in 2010. Are there any settings I need to change on either the box or the TV

    Ta

I just had a look at Philips site. The TV supports all these formats

    480i, 60 Hz
    480p, 60 Hz
    576i, 50 Hz
    576p, 50 Hz
    720p, 50, 60 Hz
    1080i, 50, 60 Hz
    1080p, 24, 50, 60 Hz
    1080p, 24, 25, 30 Hz

    The box outputs

    720p, 50, 60 Hz
    1080i, 50, 60 Hz
    1080p, 50, 60 Hz
Looks like there shouldn't be a problem on that front. Unless The TV is set to recieve a ccertain format and the box has to match or vice versa.

The box is set to 1080p 50Hz kitchen TV the moment. Once I get the Philips to myself I'll have a root through the settings and see whats there.

It's telling me it has v 2.0.78. 2016-02-03. Same as the available upgrade. I tried updating anyway but it won't let me. I did a backup first

Just getting to plug it into the philips now. It's as bad as ever. it doesn't stay on for any more than 5 or 6 seconds then the screen goes black for 30 or more seconds and the "No video recieved" message comes up on the TV. When it does come on the picture is perfect.

Try a different HDMI cable if you haven't already.

I've tried 3 different HD cables in 3 different HD sockets. All work fine with a PS4. I've just taken my daughters laptop from her cold dead hands and plugged it into the philips and it plays youtube and Netflix through the three cables and sockets.

I'm now after running a HDMI cable from the kitchen into the living room. Not a long journey. there's a door nearby. I tried all the outpit settings on the box in the kitchen then changed leads to the Phillips but to no avail.

I've had a few jars and am hitting the sack. Thanks for all thesuggestions. I'll have another go at it tomorrow night.

It's not the end of the world if I have to leave it in the kitchen. I'll be spending more time there during the summer anyway. It's just driving me mad to know what's causing it.

Still no joy. I discovered an update for the TV that's supposed to fix this problem
    Software history
The latest software solves the issues below:
    NOTE:
Each release contains all solutions identified in
    the earlier version.
    Q5431_0. 26.78.0

No sound from external devices through HDMI connect
    ion.
    Q5431_0. 26.76.0

No picture and sound (blank screen) observed on HD
    video content through HDMI connection.

TV menu operation becomes extremely slow when the a
udio language is changed on digital
    cable service (DVB-C)

    but it's still the same.

I'll email your man from Freetv. He might know of any issues with that model

Ok try this. Put TV on the HDMI channel that the box is connected. Do not switch off TV.

Switch off the box by pulling out the 12v cable at the back. Now re-insert that cable. Let box boot.

I got the SAB Android box before I saw your post about Wetek. I'm thinking of getting something else for the sitting room for the winter and leaving the SAB in the kitchen. That's if I don't find a resolution in the meantime.
