Brooks Glycerin 13 blister - please help!

    Hi all,

I received a pair of these via mail order and immediately noticed the "snugness" of the fit due to the extra cushioning. I take size 9 in a regular shoe but 9.5 in Brooks running shoes.

I've been for two runs now and immediately developed a blister on the topside of the toe next to the little one, on my right foot.

I applied an ordinary plaster this morning but the abrasion of the upper just pushed the plaster out of place. I've never experienced this before so I'm not sure what to do - will they "wear in" or the skin on my toe get used to the abrasion?

I wear ordinary trainer socks - would double layer socks make any difference?

I *think* it's being caused by the abrasion of the shoe's hard plastic toe protector from above.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Send them back would be the best advice.

You sound like you are in the wrong size shoe.

I had the same problem with Brooks Glycerin 13. I took a size 10 in the previous versions without problem. Then when I bought the Brooks Glycerin 13 I had a problem after 2 runs. I brought them back and they changed them no bother for a half size bigger and I am running fine since..

    Update:

I'm getting a size 10 of the same shoe. Have never worn this size or had this problem before... Does anyone think this will make much difference?

For future reference, is there an online shop or high street store (in Ireland) that will exchange worn shoes if they're not right?

The ship I've been buying from is reluctant to take shoes back.

I always buy my runners a full size bigger than my "normal" shoes and I'm pretty sure it's a major factor for never getting blisters.

Yes. I can't speak for all shops but most running specialist shops pride themselves on their customer service. If they make a recommendation that doesn't work out they will take worn shoes back and exchange for something more suitable.

Bear in mind most are not on the high street.

I buy my Brooks from their website, much cheaper than any store. They also do free shipping and free returns. Received my last pair from the Netherlands I think, very quick delivery.

    Try before you buy, baby.

    They are too small.
